No Kings Day Large Turnout

No Kings Day Large Turnout
Kelly Bush, Richard Lewis of Concrete, and Bridget Wisniewski of Darrington on March 28, 2026.

Fifty-six people were counted as being a part of this second No Kings event in Darrington – more than twice the size of the first held last October 18, 2025.

Lining both sides of the main street, many honks and cheers from passing vehicles showed the popularity of the event. Several passers by stopped to join in, surprised and happy to have found a No Kings close by, no need to travel to a larger location.

With permission from the property owners of the former Candle Shop, we had parking, set up tables and a canopy, and had seating for those taking a rest.

Sponsored by the local group Darrington Indivisible, young, old and inbetween enjoyed donuts and cookies, songs and flag waving, while chatting with new and old friends. And of course waving American flags and signs promoting democracy. Some of the slogans:

We The People Vote

Honk for Democracy

Be Kind, Love Not Hate

Uphold the Constitution

Remember: Only You Can Prevent Fascism

Darrington Indivisible meets the first Saturday of the month at the Darrington Library, 4 pm. All are welcome to help us find ways to act locally to support democracy and the United States Constitution.

For more information come to our next meeting Saturday, April 4. No memberships, no fees. Young children, older folks, all ages welcome. We strive to accommodate all, to welcome all – the point of being a community Indivisible.

And 0ur local library is a most welcoming place!
